Scope of application

This article is suitable for the interpretation of various professional terms in the graffiti test empowerment.

Wi-Fi related terms explained

2.4G Wi-Fi network

  1. The wireless Wi-Fi of the router works in the 2.4GHz~2.4835GHz frequency band.
  2. The concepts of 2.4G and 5G of the router’s wireless Wi-Fi and 4G and 5G of the mobile network are different.
  3. You can log in to the router management interface to view the working frequency band of the router Wi-Fi.
  4. Tuya Smart IoT Wi-Fi devices currently only support 2.4G networks. When configuring the network, you need to ensure that you are using a 2.4G Wi-Fi network.

5G Wi-Fi network

  1. The wireless Wi-Fi network of the router works in the 5.725~5.850GHz frequency band (Mainland China).
  2. Like 2.4G, you can log in to the router management interface to view the working frequency band of the router’s Wi-Fi.
  3. Tuya Smart IoT Wi-Fi devices currently do not support 5G Wi-Fi networks. When configuring the network, it needs to be configured under the 2.4G Wi-Fi network.

Wi-Fi dual-band in one

  1. Wi-Fi dual-band in one refers to the router 2.4G wireless network and 5G wireless network using the same name.
  2. You can log in to the router management interface to check whether the router Wi-Fi is dual-band in one.
  3. As Tuya IoT smart devices currently only support 2.4G networks, all dual-band-in-one wireless networks may cause the device to fail to connect to the Internet. At this time, the 2.4G and 5G networks of the router need to be set separately.

SSID

  1. The service set identifier is used to distinguish different networks and to identify the logical name of the 802.11 wireless network.
  2. In layman’s terms, SSID is the name you give to your wireless Wi-Fi network.

Wireless Roaming

  1. Wireless roaming refers to when STA (Station, such as when a mobile phone is connected to Wi-Fi, the mobile phone is STA) when it moves to a critical area of coverage of two APs (Access Points, such as routers in the home) , The STA associates with the new AP and disconnects from the original AP, and maintains an uninterrupted network connection during this process.
  2. Just like the mobile phone call function, the mobile phone can provide uninterrupted and seamless call capability when it moves from the coverage area of one base station to the coverage area of another base station.
  3. To test Tuya IoT devices, you can prepare two routers with the same SSID, and connect the devices to the Internet, away from one and close to the other, to check the roaming ability.

Wi-Fi device default network configuration mode

  1. Wi-Fi quick connection on the Tuya Smart APP corresponding to the default network configuration mode and EZ network configuration mode.
  2. Generally speaking, the status of the device indicator is flashing quickly (0.5 seconds/1 time) at this time.

Wi-Fi device AP network configuration mode (compatible mode)

  1. Hotspot distribution network on Tuya Smart APP corresponding to AP mode (compatible mode).
  2. Generally speaking, the status of the device indicator is flashing slowly (3 seconds/1 time) at this time.

Wi-Fi weak network environment

  1. Weak network means that the device is used in an environment with poor signal.
  2. Generally, the signal strength of Wi-Fi equipment is lower than -75dBm, which can be considered as a weak network.

Wi-Fi LAN

  1. Local area network means that the mobile phone and Wi-Fi device are connected under the same Wi-Fi wireless network.
  2. At this time, during APP control, it may be connected to the external network or local area network. In order to ensure the local area network where the control link is taken, the router Wi-Fi can be disconnected from the network.

Power-off memory

  1. The device usually has a factory default state.
  2. Electrician, open or close. Power-off memory means that the device saves the state before the power-off, and the state will be restored when it is powered on again.
  3. The lighting category also has an on or off state. The special feature is that the lamp will be forcibly turned on when it is powered on. The memory is the color, brightness, saturation, and specific scenes and modes of the lamp.

Zigbee related terms explained

Automation

  1. The scenarios and automation in this article refer to the relevant content of the main interface of Tuya Smart APP-[Smart], which can be used to deepen your understanding.
  2. Automation refers to [conditions] + [actions], [satisfy all conditions] or [satisfy any one of the conditions], execute the corresponding action.

Cloud Automation

  1. All the logic of automated creation, rule saving and distribution are processed by the cloud.
  2. The conditions are cloud capabilities such as timing, weather, air quality, sunrise and sunset, and temperature and humidity (excluding the status of temperature and humidity sensors). Related devices are not completely managed by the same gateway or are sub-devices of other protocol types (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Low Energy (LE)) All of the automation is cloud automation.
  3. Cloud automation must ensure that the network between the gateway and the cloud is smooth to take effect.

Local Automation

  1. The automation rules are stored locally (gateway), and the gateway sends actions when the conditions are met.
  2. Some sub-equipment statuses are used as conditions, and some other sub-equipment performs actions. All the sub-equipment under this automation belong to the same gateway.
  3. After the creation is successful, there is no need to rely on the cloud, and the gateway’s uplink network disconnection can also take effect.

Scenes

Unconditionally, there are only actions, and these actions are triggered when a certain scene is triggered.

Cloud scene

For scenarios triggered by the cloud, design Zigbee sub-devices with different gateways and devices with different protocols (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth LE), etc.

Standard scene

  1. The scene that takes effect by binding the trigger of the Zigbee scene switch is called the Zigbee standard scene. The sub-devices including the scene switch belong to the same gateway.
  2. After the binding is successful, you can leave the gateway and trigger the scene through the physical button of the scene switch. The working situation of the gateway can also trigger the scene (including the local area network) through the APP panel of the scene switch.

Local scene

  1. All sub-devices in the created scene belong to the same gateway. This scene is called a local scene, and the scene is saved locally (gateway).
  2. This scenario can be triggered through the APP panel to take effect (including LAN).
