Concepts

  • Account or user

    • A user can register an account of Tuya’s commercial lighting system with a mobile phone number or email address and log in to the account.
  • Project

    • A project is an independent unit that is managed by a user. Areas and devices must be assigned to a user before they can be managed.
    • Each user can manage one or more projects. By default, new users do not have projects after registration and login. They must create projects to perform project-specific operations.
  • Area

    • An area is an independent unit that is managed in a specific project.

    • An area can be configured with one or more sub-areas.

    • Sub-areas cannot be created for a bottom-level area.

    • In each area, one or more devices and groups can be created.

    • Non-assigned area

      • A non-assigned area is a special type of area that must exist in a project.
      • The non-assigned area only belongs to level-1 areas and cannot be found at lower levels.
      • In certain cases, if devices are not added to a specified area after pairing, the devices are listed in the non-assigned area.
      • After an area is deleted, the devices in the area are not deleted, and they are listed in the non-assigned area.
    • Public area

      • A public area is a special sub-area in a specific area. Only one or no public area can exist in each area.
      • Each public area is not created by users but appears or disappears in certain conditions.
      • The public area can be regarded as a shared area after user-created sub-areas are deleted from the parent area. It serves as the difference set between the parent area and its sub-areas.

  • Group

    • A group is an aggregation of one or more devices that follow certain rules. This way, devices can be controlled by a group.
    • A combination group is an aggregation of one or more types of groups. This way, devices, and groups can be controlled by combination groups.
    • The Commercial Lighting App SDK provides the capabilities to create, edit, and control combination groups. A single group in a combination group cannot be managed.
    • Each combination group must belong to an area and cannot be created without an area.

The following figure shows the relationship among the user, projects, areas, and groups.
