Test Process of SoC-Based IR Product

This topic describes how to perform a production test on the SoC-based infrared (IR) products. The Wi-Fi functionality and the IR control features will be verified.

Production test items

Start the production test, read the module firmware information, and then perform tests of the Wi-Fi LED, reset button, IR LED, IR transmission, IR reception, and Wi-Fi signal strength detection.

Indicators of successful production test

  • The module can discover and be connected to the router and start the testing mode.
  • The Wi-Fi LED blinks.
  • The reset button test is passed.
  • When a specified button is pressed, the IR emitter blinks five times.
  • The data transmitted and received by the infrared device is accurate.
  • The Wi-Fi signal strength meets requirements.

Things to note

  • Place the device under test (DUT) within five meters away from the router without any obstacles.

  • Within the Wi-Fi coverage area of the same router, make sure that no more than 200 products are tested at the same time, in order to reduce the mutual interference between devices. If you have more than 200 products to test, we recommend that you test them in batches.

  • In the production test environment, use as few non-test routers as possible to reduce interference, thus speeding up the production test.

  • Remove the flag of testing done from DUTs that have been paired for more than 15 minutes.

  • Remove the connected paired devices from the Smart Life app and power them off 10 seconds later.

  • At least two devices are required for IR transmitting and receiving tests.

Prepare the environment

Start the router, place it from DUTs within five meters, and set the router’s SSID to tuya_mdev_test1.

Production test process of the Wi-Fi LED

With the router turned on, the Wi-Fi LED blinks quickly after the device is powered on.

After the production test is started, press a specified button to turn on the IR LED, and use a camera that contains a charged-coupled device (CCD) to align with the IR LED. You can see the IR LED blinks at an interval of one second for a total of five times consecutively.

Production test process of IR transmission and reception

IR transmission: During the production test, the primary device receives a 6-byte MAC address sent by the host, and sends the data based on the parsing protocol. The test is passed after the data transmission is completed.

IR reception: During the production test, the primary device receives a 6-byte MAC address sent by the secondary device, parses the data, and compares it with the internal raw data. The test is passed if both data is proved to be consistent.

Production test process of Wi-Fi signal strength

During the production test, the production test software reads the Wi-Fi signal strength, and the module returns the Wi-Fi signal strength value. The test is passed if the value is between -60 dBm and -10 dBm.
