Infrared (IR) production test verifies hardware functions in multiple ways. You can choose the appropriate production test type according to the specific conditions of the product.

Overview

Currently, the following three types are available.

  • Full verification test of the host: Multiple functions can be verified, but serial communication is required. It only applies to the PCBA test solutions.
  • IR receiving and transmitting verification test of the host: The test only verifies the IR receiving and transmitting function, suitable for PCBA and product test solutions.
  • IR receiving and transmitting verification test of a single device: The test only verifies the IR receiving and transmitting function, suitable for PCBA and product test solutions. The host and IR transmitter are not required.

Full verification test of the host

The full verification test of the host covers multiple test items, but serial communication is required. It only applies to the PCBA test solutions.

Process

This test requires a host, such as a personal computer (PC), and an IR transmitter. The operation process is as follows.

  1. The IR transmitter is connected to the PC through the serial port.
  2. The device under test is connected to the PC through the serial port.
  3. The device under test enables the IR production test mode.
  4. Run the test software on the PC and select the serial port corresponding to the IR transmitter and the device under test.
  5. Click Start Run on the PC to start the test.

Test item

  • Read the MAC address and compare it with the MAC address in the service ticket.

  • Read the firmware identifier and version number, and compare them with the firmware information in the service ticket.

  • IR receiving functional test.

  • IR transmitting functional test.

  • Signal strength test.

  • Button test.

  • IR LED integrity test.

Note: Select the test item for the IR LED integrity, click the button to start the test, and the IR LED will be conductive. You can use a camera to observe whether all the IR LEDs are complete.

IR receiving and transmitting test of the host

The test supports PCBA and finished product test solutions. The device under test does not need to be connected, and you can just enable the IR production test mode. However, the test items only cover the IR receiving and transmitting function.

Process

This test requires a host, such as a personal computer (PC), and an IR transmitter. The operation process is as follows.

  1. The IR transmitter is connected to the PC through the serial port.
  2. The device under test enables the IR production test mode.
  3. Run the test software on the PC and select the serial port corresponding to the IR transmitter and the device under test.
  4. Click Start Run on the PC to start the test.

Test item

  • IR receiving functional test.
  • IR transmitting functional test.

IR receiving and transmitting test of a single device

If electrical appliances are correctly controlled by the IR receiving and transmitting process, the IR receiving and transmitting function works properly. The test applies to PCBA and finished product test solutions.

Process

You only need to configure an electrical appliance and the adapted IR remote control. Observe whether the electrical appliance responds correctly, in order to check the effectiveness of the receiving and transmitting function. The process is as follows.

  1. The device under test enables the IR production test mode.
  2. The device under test automatically enters the IR receiving mode.
  3. Align the remote control with a device under test and click the button to learn.
  4. After two seconds, the device under test will complete the learning and send the command to the electrical appliance.

Note: If the transmission is successful, the device under test resumes receiving mode.

Test item

  • IR receiving functional test.
  • IR transmitting functional test.
