Application Scenarios

Smart building applies to a wide array of sub-application scenarios such as lighting, building control, access control, energy consumption, and security monitoring. In relatively complex building control and access control scenarios, devices can be integrated through TuyaLink and IoT Edge Gateway. You can enable bulk device control and linkage in large spaces.

The building control procedure is described as follows:

Step 1: Connect to the network

Common building control devices include cold and heat sources, air conditioners, ventilation systems, air supply and exhaust devices, as well as water supply and drainage devices. Power on and connect the devices to a LAN.

• Cold and heat sources: make-up water pump and tank, cooling water system and pump, chiller, chilled water pump and system, cooling tower, expansion tank, hot water pump, boiler, heat exchanger, and heat source system.
• Air conditioners and ventilation systems: combined air-conditioning cabinet, fan coil unit, fresh air unit, and temperature control panel.
• Air supply and exhaust devices: ventilator, induced draft fan, and air-exhaust ventilator.
• Water supply and drainage devices: collection well (double-pump), sewage well (double-pump), domestic water pump and tank, and fire pump.

Step 2: Pair devices

Pair devices through edge gateway

Request access to projects and devices on the Tuya IoT Development Platform (contact Tuya technical staff). Download, install, and log in to the edge gateway system, and configure the parameters.

Perform the following steps:

1. Install the driver: In the left-side navigation pane of Tuya Edge Gateway, choose Services > Service Images to install the Modbus driver image.

2. Configure the instance: Configure and run the Modbus instance according to the technical documentation or by requesting technical support.

3. Add a product: In the left-side navigation pane of Tuya Edge Gateway, choose Devices > Products to add the defined product ID (PID).

4. Add a device: In the left-side navigation pane of Tuya Edge Gateway, choose Devices > Sub-devices and click Add Sub-device.

   This configuration only applies to integration with an edge gateway.

Pair devices through Jizhi Building app

Download, install, and log in to the Jizhi Building app to perform device pairing.

Perform the following steps:

1. Select a project: Log in to the app, tap the Me tab at the bottom, tap Project Management, and then select the target project.

2. Go to the pairing interface: Tap the Me tab at the bottom > Device Management > Add Device.

3. Add a device: Select the category and device in the interface, click Next, select the installation area, and complete the device pairing process.

   This configuration only applies to integration with TuyaLink.

Pair devices through TuyaLink SDK

Request access to projects and devices on the Tuya IoT Development Platform (contact Tuya technical staff), and complete the pairing through TuyaLink SDK.

Step 3: Control devices and achieve linkage

Log in to the SaaS system on the web. Perform the following steps:

1. Upload a floor plan: Choose Zone Management > Add Zone and upload the floor plan of the building.
2. Upload a device drawing: Choose Device Drawing > Device Layout and drag the unallocated devices to the floor plan.
3. Configure the device purpose: Choose Device Drawing > Device Purpose and select the desired device on the floor plan to configure its purpose.
4. Smart control: In the Smart Control menu, configure features such as groups, scenes, operation plans, and linkage.
5. Running status: In the Running Status menu, check the running status of the device, and control it on the interface.
