A smart temperature and humidity sensor relies on a module chip to implement device control and communication. The built-in MCU sensor is used to collect ambient temperature and humidity data. The module chip receives the data over the Inter-Integrated Circuit (I2C) protocol and then it parses and reports the data to the cloud. Based on certain data reporting rules, the data is regularly reported, or it is immediately reported if the specified sensitivity threshold is exceeded.

The device is usually powered in three ways: dry battery, rechargeable battery, and mains power.
