This topic describes how to update an OEM app for your brand on the Tuya IoT Development Platform.
On the OEM Apps page, find the app to be updated and click the app name to enter the overview page.
Check whether the app update service is within the validity period:
If the app update is unavailable, the Update App button is grayed out. In this case, click Purchase and pay for the app update service as instructed on the page.
If the app update service is within the validity period, the Update App button is available. Then, perform the following steps:
Click Update App.
Check whether the earlier version is launched.
The configurations of the earlier version cannot be modified once a new version is created. To launch the app, the configurations are subject to those of the latest version.
Set the new version number.
By default, the latest version number is the earlier version number plus 1. You can modify this version number. We recommend that you iterate the minor version.
Select a template. By default, the latest template is selected. You can also select an earlier template.
After the app is updated, click Continue to check its UI configurations.
Check the UI configurations. You can modify them as needed. Confirm all configurations and click Next: Set Functions.
Go through the Set Functions and Configure App steps. Then, click Next: Build App at the bottom of the page to build your app.
Each version can be built up to 10 times a day and up to 30 times a month.
After the build, click Get QR Code of Android Test Package in the App Test Package section as shown in the figure, scan the QR code to get the test pacakge, and then install and test the app on a mobile phone.
The QR code mentioned above is only used for testing this version and cannot be used for product exterior packaging or distributed to end users.
If the build timed out without any response, you can contact Tuya’s staff for consultation. The build might fail due to improper configurations.
If you have any problem during the configuration, in the bottom right corner of the page, choose Help and Services > Submit Question to ask Tuya for troubleshooting.
Click Next: Launch App > Purchase next to the App Launch service.
Place the order to purchase the service:
Application Object: Select the app to be launched.
Select service: Four launch plans are available.
Template: Click the template to download it. The template contains all information that you must provide to launch the app on an app store.
Required information: Upload the form you have filled out based on the template.
Tel: your phone number.
Email: your email address.
Settlement Info: If you have paid for the App Launch service offline, contact Tuya’s account manager to request a coupon and add the voucher code in this section.
Invoice Information: If you want an invoice, provide the invoice information after the service is completed, and contact Tuya’s account manager to get the invoice.
You can choose to send a sample for Tuya to create an operation video with your app. We recommend that you do not use products such as light bulbs, strip lights, and sockets. Their simple panel UI design might cause the review to be rejected in most cases.
The app operation video must be provided before the iOS app can be reviewed for launching on Apple’s App Store.
You can also choose to not send a sample. In this case, Tuya provides a sample video, and you need to create the app operation video as instructed by the sample and submit the video for the app review.
After you purchase the App Launch service, you only need to wait for Tuya’s staff to contact you and provide services. The subsequent steps will be finished by Tuya’s staff without your additional operations.
You can download the launch packages from the platform. For more information about launching on different app stores, see the hyperlinked documents as shown in the following figure.
To pass the strict review of apps for iOS, carefully read the operation manual and launch your app with respect to the specifications.
If you have any problem during the launching of the app, you can submit a ticket for troubleshooting.
After your app has passed the review, click Confirm Finished Launch at the bottom of the page to confirm that the app has been launched on app stores.
