Manage Credential

To provide more satisfying experience of using credentials, Tuya has supported online credential management.

After you purchase credentials on the Tuya IoT Development Platform, you can split the quantity and change the bound product, that is, credential updates. This topic describes the process of credential updates, which is divided into quantity split and product change.

Credential update process

  1. Pick up the credentials in the order list.
  2. Split the quantity of the credentials and change their bound products as needed.
  3. Update the credentials and check the information of the new products for which the credentials will be used.
  4. Submit the update and wait for Tuya’s confirmation and approval. After approval, the credentials will be updated successfully.

Procedure

To achieve production by multiple factories or production lines, you can split the quantity of credentials. For business changes or other reasons, you can change the bound products.

Go to purchase center

Log in to the Tuya IoT Development Platform, and choose Purchase > Credential > Production Info.

For each credential, if its quantity can be split, or the bound product can be changed, you can see Split Quantity or Change Product.

Split quantity

Select the target credential, click Split Quantity, and enter a number in Purchased Licenses and Free Licenses. The sum of the quantity of purchased licenses and free licenses is the total split quantity.

After you successfully split the quantity, you can see new credentials in the credential list. Only the credential quantity changes while other information keeps the same.

Change product

  1. Select the target credential to change its bound product. Click Change Product in the Operation column.

  2. Select a product and click Confirm. Check the update information and click OK to submit the update.

  3. After you submit the update, the credential status will change to Update confirming. You cannot use the credential until the update is confirmed by Tuya. Tuya will check the update and make sure that the production information is correct.

  4. After Tuya confirms and approves the update, the credential status will change to Update completed. Now, you can use the credential.

View update details

  • Click Update Details to view the credential update history.

  • During the update confirming process, you can recall the change. After you recall the change, you can continue to use the credential, split the quantity, and change the bound product.

  • Click Credential Update Details, you can view the information about the new product.

FAQs

Q: Can I change the bound product to any product that I have created?

A: No.

  • For the product reason, you cannot change the bound products to the following products.

    • The product is in debugging.
    • The linked component is empty.
    • The product’s advanced features have changed (with the same category and protocol type). If you want to change to the product, contact the project manager.
    • The product’s advanced features have changed (with different categories and protocol types). If you want to change to the product, contact the project manager.
    • There is a difference in the unit price. If you want to change to the product, contact the project manager.
  • For the product component reason, you cannot change the bound products to the following products.

    • The product component does not support authorization.
    • The product component does not support pickup by credential.
  • For licenses picked up by credential and credential-authorization only, you can update the credential. You cannot update the credential for license replacement.

Q: What are the differences between the credential update on the Tuya IoT Development Platform and that on the PMS Platform?

A: There is no difference currently. You can update your credentials on both platforms.
