Production Purchase

For individual developers, brand owners, and factory customers, Tuya supports your purchase requirements at various product development stages and provides products including modules, chips, materials, licenses, and production tools.

Purchase channels

• Product components: deliverables that are manufactured by Tuya based on products (searchable by product ID).
• Materials and licenses: deliverables such as materials, licenses, and advanced functions. You can purchase them in bulk for stocking.
• Tooling and devices: tools and devices for production and testing. Factory customers typically need this category.
• Data and data cards: commonly required for developing outdoor communication products, such as NB-IoT, 4G, and 5G products.
• Open SDK components: for product development based on the tuya-open-sdk-for-device framework.

Log in to Tuya Developer Platform > Purchase > Production.

Function description

Product search

General search items: Product name and material code.
Specific search items:

• Specific to product components:

  • Product Owner: Options are My Products and authorized enterprises.
  • Development Status: Options are Developing and Completed.
  • Product: supports fuzzy search by product name.
  • PID: supports precise search by product ID.

• Specific to materials & licenses and tooling & devices:

  • Item Type: for quickly filtering products of the specified type.

Product details

Click Buy Now next to the product to purchase. Then, the configuration items and details of the product appear. Different deliverables vary in their configuration items.

Category 1: product components and open SDK components - modules and chips

Configuration items:

• Manufacturer Model: Select a hardware model based on your requirements.
• Delivery Mode:
  • Custom Delivery: Tuya flashes firmware to the hardware and authorizes it for delivery.
  • Empty Delivery: Tuya delivers hardware without firmware and authorization information. You need to perform the firmware flashing and authorization by yourself.
• Purpose:
  • Debugging: applicable during the product development and debugging phases, with a smaller purchase quantity and frequent firmware updates.
  • Trial Production: applicable for small-batch production verification.
  • Mass Production: applicable for the mass production phase, with a large purchase quantity. This option is available only when the development status is Completed.

Order options:

• Unit Price: The price includes hardware and license.
• Flashing Fee: If you choose Custom Delivery for a product that allows customers to flash the firmware themselves, and the purchase quantity is less than 100, Tuya will charge you a flashing fee.
  

Category 2: product components and open SDK components - licenses

Configuration items:

• Purchase Purpose:
  • Debugging: applicable during the product development and debugging phases, with a smaller purchase quantity.
  • Production: applicable for the mass production phase, with a large purchase quantity.
• Delivery Mode:
  • Credential: the credential code read by the production test tool for flashing authorization. A specific number of licenses can be captured and written to devices one by one to authorize them along with firmware.
  • License List: the license list file that contains the information of UUID and authkey fields. Write the license to the devices one by one by using your tool.
  • Credential (Authorization Only): the credential code read by the production test tool for independent authorization. This code can be written to devices one by one to authorize them without firmware.
  If a delivery format is not available, hover the mouse over it to reveal the specific reason.

Order options:

• License - TuyaOS licenses: The price of the license changes with the product category and communication mode.

• Generic licenses and open SDK licenses: All products have a unified price.

  

Category 3: materials and licenses

Configuration items:

• Applicable category: Select the applicable product category for the license based on your requirements.
• Protocol Type: Select the communication mode based on your requirements and the selected category.
• You can also click Quick set categories & protocols to quickly match the above device information based on PID.

Order options:

• Unit Price: The price includes hardware, license, and advanced functions (if any).

• Quantity: The minimum order quantity and increment are both based on the minimum packaging quantity of the included hardware.

  In general stock, the purchased quantity ratio of hardware to license is 1:1.

  

Category 4: Data and data cards - data plan renewal

Configuration items:

• Upload SIM Card Info: To renew a data plan, provide the SIM card number that needs to be renewed and upload it according to the specified format in the example file.

• Ordered Cycle: Select the renewal period. For example, for a monthly data plan, 3 month(s) means subscribing for three consecutive months.

  The purchase quantity for the data plan renewal must match the number of valid SIM card numbers you upload and cannot be set manually.

  

Category 5: other types of products

Select the product and fill in the purchase quantity.

Order confirmation

After you confirm configuration items, click Buy Now to enter the order confirmation page. The information that needs to be confirmed varies for different types of products.

Production information

• Applicable order types:

  • Hardware: The orders for which you have selected Custom Delivery.
  • Licenses: The orders for which you have selected Credential.

• Status of production information:

  • To be confirmed: You need to confirm the production information or select production information that has been confirmed before.
    
  • Confirmed:

    • Use the current production information.
      

    • Switch to another version of production information or Create a new version of production information.

Production and shipping

• Applicable order types: Confirming an order that includes a hardware device.
• Items that can be filled in:
  • Expected delivery date: Enter your desired delivery date, with a minimum date of five days after placing the order.
  • Shipping order requirements: The information provided here will be printed on the shipping order.
  • Label information: This item is available only to module orders. You can choose a label template based on your requirements. The label will be affixed to the module shield cover.
  • Remarks: Fill in your additional requirements for the order.
    

Receipt information

• Applicable order types: Confirming an order that includes a hardware device.
• Items that can be filled in:
  • Shipping Method: You can select Direct Delivery or Freight Forwarding. Freight forwarding is applicable for customers receiving goods outside China.
  • Ship To: Select the shipping address. If you select Freight Forwarding, you also need to choose a freight forwarding address, which is only supported in Chinese mainland.
    

Invoice information

• Applicable order types: all.

• Invoice options:

  • Individual: You can choose to issue a general value-added tax (VAT) invoice under an individual or organization title.
  • Organization: You can choose to issue a general VAT invoice or a special VAT invoice.

• Tuya has fully implemented electronic invoicing. You can download invoices online after they are issued.

  

Settlement information

Confirm the total order amount and choose whether to use a coupon.

Submit an order and pay

After you confirm the order information, check the box to agree to the Tuya Development Service Agreement. Then, you can submit the order. You can choose to pay now or return to the order list page for batch payment.

Supported payment methods are:

• Corporate online banking
• Offline bank transfer: After Tuya receives the funds, you can operate the binding of the payment yourself.
• Third-party payment: For example, WeChat Pay and Alipay are only available for individual customers.
• PayPal: This item is available only to customers outside China.

Order delivery

For orders that include empty-delivery hardware and licenses, or pure licenses:

You need to operate the pickup after placing an order, specifying the PID and the delivery method of licenses. Then, Tuya can handle the order fulfillment. For more information about license receipt operations, see Cloud License and Advanced Features.

Other orders:

After the order is paid, Tuya will handle the order fulfillment, and you only need to wait for the delivery.
