Scope of application

This topic describes relevant information about TYJW2 module during MCU connection development.

As a Wi-Fi module developed by Tuya Smart, TYJW2 module applies to serial port communication of 5 V TTL electrical level. The module consists of a highly integrated radio-frequency identification (RFID) chip ESP8266EX and an extended flash chip, with built-in Wi-Fi network protocol stack and various library functions. TYJW2 also has a low power 32-bit CPU, 1 MB flash, and 36 KB static random access memory (SRAM).

As a real time operating system (RTOS) platform, TYJW2 integrates all function libraries of Wi-Fi MAC and TCP/IP protocols. Based on serial port communication mode, you can develop your own embedded Wi-Fi products.

For more information, see Wi-Fi module introduction — TYJW2.

Design specification

  • Module power supply:

    • When the module is in the hot spot network configuration status, maximum current is 451 mA. It is recommended that supply current of 5.0 V module should exceed 600 mA, and total capacity of external filter capacitor should exceed 10 uF.
    • Power filter capacitors C1 and C2 shall be arranged near the power supply pin.
  • Module pin:

    • The module works normally when I/O 0 port floats, and the firmware is being burned when I/O 0 port has a low electrical level.
    • RST pin only resets the module hardware, but cannot clear Wi-Fi network configuration information.
    • No. 5 to No. 11 pins are test pins, which are not recommended to use.
  • Radio frequency (RF) of the module:

    • The module has two types of antennas, PCB onboard antenna and external antenna. By default, PCB onboard antenna is used. To connect an external antenna, contact the sales personnel of this company.
    • When a PCB onboard antenna is used in the Wi-Fi module, it is recommended that the distance between the module antenna and other metal parts should be at least 15 mm, in order to optimize the Wi-Fi performance.
