Scope of application

This topic describes relevant information about TYJW2S-5V module during MCU connection development.

As a Wi-Fi module developed by Tuya Smart, TYJW2S-5V module applies to serial port communication of 5 V TTL electrical level. It mainly consists of Tuya self-developed Wi-Fi module TYWE1S and electrical level conversion circuit, with built-in Wi-Fi network protocol stack and Tuya serial port connection protocol.

As a real time operating system (RTOS) platform, TYJW2S-5V integrates all function libraries of Wi-Fi MAC and TCP/IP protocols. Based on serial port communication mode, you can develop your own embedded Wi-Fi products.

For more information, see Wi-Fi module introduction — TYJW2S-5V.

Design specification

  • Module power supply:

    • When the module is in the hot spot network configuration status, maximum current is 451 mA. It is recommended that supply current of 5.0 V module should exceed 500 mA, and total capacity of external filter capacitor should exceed 10 uF.
    • In the PCB layout, filter capacitor at the power input pin shall be arranged near the power supply pin.
  • Module pin:

    • The module works normally when BOOT floats, and the firmware is being burned when BOOT has a low electrical level.
    • RST pin only resets the module hardware, but cannot clear Wi-Fi network configuration information.
    • No. 5 to No. 11 pins are test pins, which are not recommended to use.
  • Radio frequency (RF) of the module:

    • The module has two types of antennas, PCB onboard antenna and external antenna. By default, PCB onboard antenna is used. To connect an external antenna, contact the sales personnel of this company.
    • When a PCB onboard antenna is used in the Wi-Fi module, it is recommended that the distance between the module antenna and other metal parts should be at least 15 mm, in order to optimize the Wi-Fi performance.
